A song and jumping dance to get hearts going and Spanish flowing first thing. Enjoy! I have included a ropey version of me singing the original song to give you an idea of the tune. Listen on low volume!

I make a book about the shrinking puddle and read it with the children. On a sunny day we make puddles with watering cans in the yard, then we chalk around them and return to them at intervals to rechalk. This book reflects this activity and gives you Spanish language to incorporate into the activity.

This is a nice craft activity or simply a finger rhyme. There is a lovely version of this song by Grupo Encanto on Cantajuego Volume 4. You can see it on the 2nd half of the video linked above.

I designed these activities with old jenga bricks that I painted, and developed them to be used once printed onto card and laminated. The activities teach colours and mucho, poco and todo.

The activities include: Now we're going to sing, Count carefully, Paper, scissors stone, What does a giant do?, What&'s 'rain' in Spanish?, F with a says Fa Spanish vowel song, They&';ve taken the mountain to Spain, and What's in the box magic trick.

Give each child a sheet to cut up, and 5 white slips and one yellow slip. Children play in teams, hiding the slips under the people on the cards, telling the team members who has the golden card and why, then trying to remember where each person has hidden the card.

Counting off fingers as members of the family, either give the learners the sheet as it is for them to trace around the letters, or enlarge everything to give them a little book which they can augment with pictures of their family.

The colour guessing game using different coloured socks in bags. I have included a daft video of myself playing the game with a Spanish speaking puppet!

Match the pictures of animals to the words - so many are easy to guess. Complete your book - all you need to do is write in 'Este' - this - at the beginning of each sentence, and colour in the animals.

A simple song, roughly recorded to give you an idea of the tune, and a nice plenary for reception classes as it lends itself to actions: Jump bunnies, prick up your ears Sleep bunnies, put down your ears. Words and music
